🏰  Welcome

A warm welcome to Gîte de Rossignol — your home for the coming days, set within the grounds of Château de Séguenville, a family estate with origins dating back to 1647.

The gîte is a sympathetically converted former stable and agricultural building, now a light-filled home with exposed oak and chestnut beams, an oak staircase, and views across the Gers countryside towards the Pyrenees. You may recognise the château from Channel 4's Château:DIY, which has followed its restoration since 2019.

Your hosts, Mark and Becky, live at the château and are on hand throughout your stay — please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions.

We hope you sleep well, eat well, and leave a little more relaxed than when you arrived.

📍  Before You Arrive

Directions

Address: Gîte de Rossignol, 1 Impasse de la Chapelle, Séguenville, 31480 Cabanac-Séguenville, France.

•    By plane — Toulouse Airport (TLS) is around 45 km / 40 minutes away, with direct flights connecting Montreal, Dublin, Edinburgh, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and London (LHR, LGW, STN), as well as most of Europe.

•    By train — Montauban (45 km) is the nearest main station; Agen and Toulouse are both under 90 minutes' drive.

•    By car — the autoroute network leads to either Toulouse or Bordeaux. We're under an hour from the Toulouse Périphérique and around 2 hours from Bordeaux. Arriving from the UK via St Malo or Caen, allow around 7.5 hours' driving (plus rest stops) from the ferry ports.

Parking

Free private parking is available on site. The ground-floor bedroom has its own door directly onto the garden and parking area, which suits guests who prefer not to manage stairs.

🔑  Check In

Check-in is from 4:00 pm.

Becky will be on hand to greet you but if your plans change, the front doors off the terrace will be left unlocked. Please do call her if you have to amend your planned arrival. A welcome hamper awaits guests in the kitchen.

📶  WiFi

High-speed internet is included throughout your stay.

Details of the WiFi will be explained on arrival and a card with the details will be left on the  bar top in the ground floor sitting room.

🏡  House Manual

Heating

The gîte has underfloor heating on both floors — stone flooring on the ground floor stays cool in summer and is warmed in winter; oak flooring upstairs carries the same benefit. The property is fully insulated with double glazing throughout, making it a comfortable retreat even in the colder months.

✎ Thermostats are available in each main room and bathrooms have independent systems.

Air Conditioning / Ventilation

Cooling fans are available in each bedroom. Additional fans are available in the sitting rooms and the kitchen / diner. Please remember to close the shutters and open windows during the day as this helps the ventilation and keep the temperature reasonable.

Kitchen

The kitchen is fully equipped and opens onto the dining room with large French Bifold Doors leading out to the decking — a lovely spot for morning coffee or an evening drink.

Coffee Machine

🏊  Pool

The pool is heated from April to October (included in your rate), and the wood-fired eco hot tub is available and heated year-round. Plastic glasses are provided for use around the hot tub — please avoid glass in this area.

Safety

•    There is no lifeguard on duty — children should be supervised at all times.

•    Please shower before entering the pool and avoid running on wet surfaces around the pool deck.

Walking Routes

Quiet country lanes lead directly from the door, ideal for a gentle stroll or a longer walk through the surrounding farmland.

Expect to wake to birdsong, with sweeping rural views towards the Pyrenees on clear days.

🍷  Local Recommendations

Restaurants

•    Cox — freshly made pizza

•    Sarrant — a charming spot for a book and a toastie

•    Beaumont-de-Lomagne, Mauvezin and Cadours — a good range of restaurants for all tastes and budgets

•    Namaste, Puységur — for something different

Bars

Cadours and Beaumont are the nearest towns, but on certain days local associations run bars in Cox and Le Cause.

Markets

Weekly local markets are held around the region for fresh, seasonal produce (Wednesday - Cadours, Saturday - Beaumont). Summer also brings a calendar of Marchés Nuits et Gourmands when the towns come to life with a wide range of F&B offerings, dance and song.

Fresh bread and croissants are available most mornings in Cadours or Beaumont-de-Lomagne.

Vineyards

Saint-Sardos is the local wine appellation and well worth a visit. Venture further west into the Gers and you'll find yourself in the heart of Armagnac country.

Day Trips

Auch, Albi, Carcassonne and Toulouse are all within easy reach, each with their own architectural treasures. Toulouse also offers museums and, in season, rugby at the Stade Toulousain. There's a cinema in Beaumont-de-Lomagne, and boat trips along the Canal du Midi can be arranged.

The nearest pharmacies are in Cadours (around 10 km) and Beaumont-de-Lomagne.

🚲  Activities

Cycling

Cycling is popular straight from the front door, with quiet lanes criss-crossing the region.

Hiking

The surrounding countryside lends itself well to walking, from short strolls to longer routes through the farmland and villages nearby.

Canoeing

Water sports are available at Beaumont-de-Lomagne, Saint-Cricq and Saint-Clar, and the Canal du Midi can be explored on foot, by bike, or by boat.

Golf

UGolf Les Martines and several courses in and around Toulouse are within easy driving distance, along with Exclusiv Golf de Toulouse Seilh.

Toulouse

La Ville Rose is under an hour away via the Toulouse Périphérique — well worth a day trip for its architecture, museums, and famous pink-brick old town.

Check-out is before 10:00 am.

Your €500 security deposit will be refunded within 48 hours of departure, provided there is no major damage to the property.
